In music, cadence is a melodic or harmonic configuration that creates a sense of resolution. How fitting, then, that Cadence, built by TS Williams Construction Ltd. and designed by KB Design, is the essence of harmony, resolved in a waterfront home that is everything the owners expected.
Cadence is also a multiple award-winner, starting with a Gold CARE award, moving on to win a provincial Georgie in more than one category and then a national SAM award for Best Custom Home over 4,000 square feet. It has also picked up awards for best interior, best kitchen and best outdoor living space.
TS Williams’ owner Taran Williams said that creating a home like Cadence takes a coordinated approach.
“Good building comes from a good team and a good design. Without it, you’re not going to achieve what you want,” Williams said.
Ideally, good building also starts with a good location and careful planning. The homeowners, who Williams had worked with previously, came to him in search of land. The criteria was rigorous: it had to be waterfront and secluded, have a stand of mature trees and be within minutes of city amenities. It took over a year to find the right property. The homeowners also requested a West Coast modern design – and that’s when Williams turned to Keith Baker of KB Design.
“Keith likes to design a building that belongs to the land. And we support that idea fully, so we gave him artistic freedom. This is what he came up with.”
