This mountain modern home nestled in a gated property was designed to blend in with its natural surroundings. Careful consideration to keep the roof lines low and integrated into the natural setting was for aesthetics and high restrictions of the local development. The curved side retaining walls allow additional accessibility to the home’s 4 car garage. Locally sourced cedar siding, stonework and timber features creates a natural timeless appeal.

Inside the Cantilever, interesting architectural lines are highlighted by timber beams and posts. The kitchen section of the home acts as a bridge corridor providing covered outdoor spaces below, and connecting the two wings of the residence. The Cantilever hosts 3 separate suites, each with their own walk-in closet and ensuite. Guests are given the opportunity for complete privacy from the remainder of the home.

Transom windows, shaded by the home’s generous roof overhangs, allow ambient light to brighten the home. The office has large windows to flood the space with natural light, and provide a view to the home’s uniquely designed exterior water features. The cold rolled steel accent camouflages the TV, and horizontal reveal detailing visually breaks up the height of the great room fireplace surround. The steel used in the living room detailing is brought into the kitchen’s custom exhausted hood surround and island bar back for a cohesive feel. The combination of metal, stone and wood brings in natural elements throughout.

Book matched quarter sawn oak cabinetry was meticulously installed in almost every room of the home providing a warm juxtaposition for the light wall colours, glazing and metal accents. Rich neutrals allow colourful art to be showcase throughout the house, and accessories and artwork provide a look into the client’s interests and travels abroad. Clean lines and low maintenance finishes provide a sense of simplicity which allows the clients more time to relax. An understated comfort and relaxation are exuded by the furnishings throughout.

The home’s insultation and windows/doors were chosen to withstand the harsh elements of this mountain top exposure. The multi zoned heat pumps and hydronic heating making this home extremely efficient as provides the opportunity to heat only the areas being used.
